Ceramic Basket Weaving 🧺- March 4th

$49.00

A fresh take on baskets, made in clay

Upcoming Dates:

  • Wednesday, March 4th from 6:30-9pm

Welcome spring with a workshop that’s all about texture, movement, and slow, intentional making. In this evening class, we’ll blend the timeless craft of basket weaving with handbuilt ceramics—using clay coils instead of fibers to create a sculptural ceramic basket that feels fresh, organic, and one of a kind.

This workshop is designed to be scalable, whether you’re brand new to clay or already comfortable with handbuilding. A variety of molds and forms will be available, so you can keep your piece simple and airy or push into larger forms with layered, woven details—very much spring energy.

What You’ll Learn
✨ How to build and support a ceramic form using molds
✨ Rolling and shaping clay coils for strength and flexibility
✨ Weaving and joining coils to create structure, texture, and flow
✨ Tips for balance, durability, and intentional design

By the end of the session, you’ll have a beautifully woven ceramic basket—perfect for holding fruit, plants, fresh blooms, or simply living on a shelf as a statement piece.

After class, we’ll handle all the firing and glazing for you. You’ll choose your glaze color during the workshop, and we’ll notify you in about 4 weeks when your finished piece is ready for pickup at Studio Sumi.
