This May we explore the world of sculpture in this 4-week series!

Embark on a creative journey this Spring with our immersive 4-week sculpture series, taking place on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9pm starting May 9th- May 30th. Led by our talented instructor, Mareiwa, this series is perfect for beginners and aspiring handbuilders and sculptors eager to enhance their skills or build confidence in clay.

Throughout the workshop, you'll delve into the essentials of handbuilding and sculpting, mastering techniques in coil building, pinching, and slab construction. Mareiwa will provide expert guidance, creating a personalized and supportive learning environment for all participants.

Course Highlights:

Structured Learning: Engage in 2.5 hours of weekly in-person instruction over four weeks, covering foundational handbuilding and sculpting techniques.

Open Studio Hours: Practice your newfound skills at your own pace during dedicated studio hours outside of class time. Studio hours are daily from 11am-7pm Monday-Sunday and with full day access on class days (6am-midnight).

Comprehensive Materials: Your course includes all the necessary materials, providing a hassle-free experience including 15lbs of either white stoneware clay or brown speckled buff clay, studio glazes, firing of all pieces, access to studio machinery and equipment, and personal shelf space.

Sculpting Adventures in Clay:

Week 1: Sculpt and shape using the pinching and coiling method to create your first sculpture of the class series.

Week 2: Dive deeper into sculpting as you discover the art of slab building, and master the use of the slab roller for future projects during open studio hours.

Week 3: Unleash your creativity and combine various techniques during this open project time, where the instructor will assist each student.

Week 4: Learn about glaze and underglaze and then apply those glazing techniques to all of your sculptural pieces.
