Looking for a creative and unforgettable way to celebrate? At Studio Sumi, our pottery parties are all about fun, hands-on experiences where kids can shape, sculpt, and create memories that last. Each party includes 2 hours of guided pottery instruction focused on handbuilding techniques—the perfect way to enjoy pottery without the pressure of the wheel. Handbuilding encourages creativity and gives kids the freedom to shape, mold, and decorate their pieces in a fun, relaxed way. It's ideal for beginners and a great introduction to the art of pottery!

The cost is $90 per participant, which includes all materials, tools, and the firing and glazing of finished pieces. We welcome kids of all ages (yes, teens too!) and can accommodate mixed-age groups, ensuring everyone has a great time. Plus, with the option to add snacks and treats, it’s a celebration that's as relaxed as it is fun.

  • Yes, absolutely! You’re welcome to bring snacks, treats, or even a full birthday cake to keep the celebration going. If you'd like to add food and drinks, there's an additional $100 fee, which includes an extra 30 minutes after the pottery fun for eating, drinking, and cleanup. It's a great way to keep the party relaxed and mess-free! Just remember to bring your own utensils, napkins, and party hats.

  • We love creativity, so the sky’s the limit! Popular choices include slab-built mugs, cute sculptures, or whimsical clay play for younger kiddos. We’ll work with you to choose the perfect project for your party theme or interests—whether it's mugs, mini sculptures, or freeform creations. Whatever you choose, we’ll make sure the project is fun, age-appropriate, and a masterpiece in the making that everyone can enjoy.

  • Not at all! Our parties are designed to make even first-timers feel like pottery pros. The whole process is guided, so your little artists can enjoy themselves while creating something they’re proud of.

  • Good things take time! Projects go through a multi-step process: drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing. It typically takes about 3-4 weeks before everything’s ready for pickup and we’ll send you an email when they're all set!

Kidz Birthday Party FAQs 🎉

  • We welcome kids as young as kindergarten age (5-6 years old) and cater to all ages up to teens. We can also accommodate mixed-age groups to ensure everyone has a great time. Projects are designed to be engaging and manageable for all ages, so no one gets overwhelmed—just lots of smiles and creativity!

  • Yes! All of the pieces will be glazed with food-safe finishes and are safe to use in the microwave. A heads-up, though: while they’re technically dishwasher safe, we recommend handwashing to keep them looking their best, especially for delicate or sculptural designs.

  • Due to limited studio space, we can’t accommodate parents hanging out during the party. But don’t worry—if your little ones need extra support, we’ll work with you to arrange a child-to-parent ratio to ensure they’re comfortable and confident.

  • Definitely! We’ll work with you to choose the perfect project for your party theme or interests. Whether it’s mugs, mini sculptures, or freeform creations, we’ll ensure it’s something everyone can enjoy making.
