FAQs
Can 2 kids share 1 reservation?
Absolutely. Each reservation includes 2 ornaments and space for up to 2 painters, so 2 kids can each paint 1 ornament.
Do adults need to purchase a reservation?
Not if they’re just helping or supervising. Non-painting parents and caregivers may accompany their child at no additional charge.
What if more than 2 people want to paint?
Please purchase an additional reservation or additional ornaments. We plan seating around the number of painters so everyone has enough room to work comfortably.
Can we paint more than 2 ornaments?
Yes! Additional ornaments are $12 each, while supplies last.
What ornament shapes will be available?
We’ll have a mix of trees, snowflakes, round ornaments, clouds, and organic shapes. Exact styles and quantities may vary, so you can choose your favorites when you arrive.
What are we painting with?
You’ll use non-toxic ceramic underglaze, which can be brushed on much like regular paint.
Can we personalize our ornaments?
Yes. We’ll have fine-line underglaze pens available so painters can add their name + year to the back.
How do the time slots work?
Choose your arrival time when booking. Your family has up to 60 minutes from that start time to paint. Because another family may be scheduled after you, arriving late will shorten your painting time.
Is this a drop-off event?
No. Children must remain with a parent or caregiver throughout the event.
Can we just walk in?
Possibly, but we recommend reserving ahead. Walk-ins will only be accepted if we have both seating and ornaments available.
Can we add another child when we arrive?
Only if we have enough seating and ornaments available. If you know more than 2 people will be painting, please reserve the appropriate number of spots in advance.
Can we take the ornaments home that day?
Not quite. Ceramic underglaze needs to be glazed and kiln-fired before the ornaments are finished. Leave them with us and we’ll take care of that part.
When will they be ready?
These ornaments receive priority holiday firing and will be ready for pickup a few days before Christmas. We’ll email you when they’re ready.
Cancellation + Rescheduling Policy
Because this is a limited-capacity holiday event with reserved painting times, please review our policy before booking.
More than 7 days before your reservation:
You may cancel for a full refund or request a one-time reschedule, subject to availability.
Within 7 days:
Reservations are non-refundable.
If another ornament-painting time is available, we may offer a one-time reschedule when requested at least 48 hours before your reservation.
Within 48 hours, same-day cancellations, and no-shows:
Reservations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
Running Late?
Your 60-minute painting window begins at your scheduled start time, not when you arrive.
If you book the 10:30am session and arrive at 10:50am, for example, your session will still end at 11:30am so we can stay on schedule for the families arriving after you.
Can't Make It?
You’re welcome to transfer your reservation to another family. Just email us with the new guest’s name before your scheduled session.
Because these ornaments are being specially produced and prioritized within our holiday firing schedule, reservations cannot be converted to another Studio Sumi workshop or studio credit after the event has passed.
