Kids Halloween Workshop Weekend 👻🎃 - Oct. 3rd & 4th

$74.00

A little spooky, a little silly, a whole lot of clay. 👻

Come make something spooky, silly, and completely your own.

This special Halloween pottery workshop is designed for kids ages 7–11 and gives them a chance to build, decorate, and personalize their own ceramic Halloween project using beginner-friendly handbuilding techniques.

Each day features a different project:

🎃 Jack-o’-Lantern Lantern

Saturday, October 3 from 10:30 AM–12:30 PM
Kids will build their own ceramic pumpkin from clay, shape the ridges and stem, then turn it into a real jack-o’-lantern by cutting out their own eyes, nose, and mouth. They’ll finish it with colorful underglaze details, patterns, or a totally unexpected pumpkin personality. After firing, we’ll include a battery-operated tea light so it can glow at home.

👾 Monster Dish

Sunday, October 4 from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
Kids will handbuild a dish and turn it into their own weird little creature. They can add sculpted eyes, horns, ears, teeth, feet, or whatever features their monster needs, then bring it to life with colorful underglaze. Sweet, spooky, goofy, one-eyed, 3-eyed — there’s no right way to make a monster.

No pottery experience is needed. We’ll teach the building techniques step by step, then give kids plenty of room to make their project feel like their own.

We’re holding these workshops at the beginning of October so we can prioritize the pieces in our firing schedule and aim to have them ready to enjoy before Halloween.

All clay, tools, instruction, underglaze, glazing, and kiln firings are included.

Ages 7–11 · $75

Come with a friend, bring a sibling, or make it a little weekend Halloween tradition. Each class is limited to 10 kids, so there’s still plenty of hands-on guidance while everyone gets room to make their project their own.

Location: Studio Sumi- 5031 Geary Blvd, SF 94118

FAQs

Does my child need pottery experience?

Nope. This workshop is designed for beginners, and we’ll guide kids through the project step by step.

What will my child make?

Each workshop is project-based, and the project depends on the date you choose.

  • Saturday: Jack-o’-Lantern Lantern

  • Sunday: Monster Dish

Will kids get to decorate their pottery?

Yes. Both projects use colored underglaze during class so kids can add fun details, faces, patterns, and personality. We’ll take care of the clear glazing and kiln firings afterward.

Will the pottery be ready before Halloween?

That’s the goal. We’re offering these workshops at the beginning of October so we can prioritize them in our firing schedule and aim for pickup around October 24. Since ceramics involves drying time and multiple firings, exact timing can occasionally shift, but we’ll do our best to have everything ready before Halloween.

Is this a drop-off workshop?

Yes. Parents and guardians are welcome to help their child get settled at the beginning of class and then return for pickup at the end. Please make sure we have a phone number where a parent or guardian can be reached during class.

What should my child wear?

Please send them in comfortable clothes that can get a little messy. Clay usually washes out, but underglaze can stain some fabrics. Aprons will also be available.

Can siblings or friends take it together?

Absolutely, as long as each child has their own registration and falls within the 7–11 age range.

Can my child attend if they’re almost 7 or a little older than 11?

We’re keeping this workshop specifically for ages 7–11 so the pacing, instruction, and project difficulty stay appropriate for the group. If your child is just outside that age range and you’re unsure, feel free to reach out before booking.

Can parents stay during class?

This is intended as a drop-off workshop so kids can settle in and create independently. Parents are welcome to stay for the first few minutes while everyone gets settled.
