This Motherâs Day, skip the crowded brunch plans and make something meaningful together instead.
When: on Motherâs Day! Sunday, May 10th from 11am-1pm
Join us for a cozy, joy-filled morning of painting, sipping, and slowing down. Whether youâre celebrating your mom, coming with your kids, gathering your chosen family, or simply treating yourself, this workshop is all about connection, creativity, and making memories you can actually keep.
In this hands-on class, youâll decorate your own ceramic plate using colorful underglazes and learn the sgraffito technique. Thatâs the scratch method where you carve through the painted surface to reveal the clay underneath. Itâs relaxing, surprisingly addictive, and creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind designs.
No experience needed. Just come ready to play with color and enjoy a meaningful creative moment.
What Youâll Do
đ¨ Paint & Carve Your Plate
Start with a blank 8â ceramic plate and use colored underglazes to paint your design. Think florals, brunch themes, sweet messages, abstract patterns, or something completely personal. Then learn how to carve into your painted surface using the sgraffito technique to bring your design to life.
Whatâs Included
đĽ Complimentary bubbles (yes, morning bubbles are encouraged)
â Tea and coffee station
đ¨ All materials, paints, carving tools, and aprons
đ Step-by-step guidance from our Studio Sumi team
⨠A handmade keepsake that lasts far longer than flowers
⨠Pick-up
After the workshop, weâll apply a clear glaze and fire your piece in the kiln. Your finished plate will be ready for pickup in about 3 to 4 weeks. It will be food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.
Because sometimes the best Motherâs Day plans are simple. Good company, something bubbly, and a creative moment youâll actually remember. No pressure, just a really sweet way to spend the morning.
