Get ready to design and build your very own ceramic handbag! In this fun and hands-on workshop, you’ll learn handbuilding skills to help bring your creative handbag idea to life and make something that’s uniquely yours. Whether you’re looking for an elegant design or something quirky and bold, this workshop has everything you need to turn your vision into reality.
What You’ll Learn:
👜 Handbuilding Basics: With guidance from our skilled instructor, you’ll learn how to slab-build the base of your bag, shape creative handles, and add decorative elements to make it truly one-of-a-kind.
🎨 Adding Color: Once your handbag is formed, you’ll learn how to use colored glazes to bring your design to life. Whether you prefer subtle hues or vibrant patterns, you’ll explore techniques to make your handbag pop.
✨ Personal Touches: From playful details to bold accents, you’ll have plenty of inspiration and support to create a handbag that’s as unique as you are.
Once your handbags are made, the team at Studio Sumi will handle the kiln firings and final clear glaze application to make it water-tight. Use it as a vase, utensil holder, or bring it with you on your next outing! In about 4 weeks you’ll receive an email with pickup instructions.
What’s Included: All tools, clay, aprons, and firing services including a self-serve Coffee and Tea Car to keep you fueled throughout the workshop!

Before Class
Please arrive about 5 minutes before the workshop begins so you can settle in.
Age Requirement
This class is 21+ and participants are welcome to BYOB—alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be provided to keep things cozy.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
To request a cancellation or refund, please email bri@sumiware.com. Please note: All refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee to cover transaction costs.
– Refunds requested more than one week prior to the workshop are fully refundable or you can reschedule to a different class.
– Refunds requested within one week of the workshop are 50% refundable.
– Rescheduling is available within 5 days of the start of class.
– No refunds are given within 24 hours of the start of class.

Sickness & COVID Policy
If you’re feeling unwell, especially with symptoms like fever, sore throat, or cough, please stay home. If you notify us at least 48 hours in advance, we’ll offer a one-time reschedule due to illness.
For COVID-related absences, you must notify us within 24 hours of the class and provide a doctor’s note to qualify for rescheduling. This helps us keep the studio safe and healthy for everyone.
